Signing in

How to log in, how long your session lasts, and what to do when you are signed out unexpectedly.

Signing in

Go to your Cargolake address and you land on the login page. Enter the email and password your administrator set up for you, and press Login.

There is no self-service registration inside the application. Accounts are created for you in one of two ways:

What happens when you sign in

Two things are stored in your browser:

  1. Your session token, as a cookie that expires 24 hours after you sign in. The cookie is scoped to the parent domain, so signing in once gives you access to every part of the platform without logging in again as you move between modules.
  2. The list of things you are allowed to do, cached locally. This is what the sidebar uses to decide which menu entries to show you.

Because the permission list is cached at sign-in, a permission change does not appear until you sign in again. If an administrator has just granted you access to something and you still cannot see it, sign out and back in.

When your session ends

After 24 hours the cookie expires and you are sent back to the login page the next time you navigate. Any page you open without a valid session redirects to /login automatically — you will not see a half-loaded screen.

Work in progress is not saved for you. If you are filling in a long form — a quotation, a shipment — save it before you leave it for the day.

Signing out

Use Logout at the bottom of the sidebar. This clears your session immediately.

Changing your password

Open Settings from the bottom of the sidebar, then Update Password. You will be asked for your old password and your new password.

Administrators changing someone else's password do it from that user's detail page and are not asked for the old one.
